Fatty liver disease can be classed as either alcohol or non-alcohol related. Vitamin D deficiency can cause non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. An unhealthy diet, consumption of vegetable oils, lack of sunlight and a sedentary lifestyle can also aggravate the condition.
