We look at the shocking constipation-kidney connection doctors miss.
A study of 3.5 million people just revealed something shocking: if you’re constipated, your risk of kidney disease jumps by 13%, and your risk of kidney failure increases by 9%. And most doctors never make this connection.
Here’s what’s happening: when waste sits in your colon too long, harmful bacteria multiply and produce toxic compounds called uremic toxins. These toxins—especially one called p-cresyl sulfate—enter your bloodstream and travel directly to your kidneys, where they trigger inflammation and damage the filtering units called nephrons.
This isn’t just discomfort. This is silent kidney damage happening right now if you’re dealing with chronic constipation.
